SOCIAL MEDIA – EMBRACE IT AND MAKE IT WORK FOR YOU!

November 12, 2018

Are you on social media but find it too overwhelming? Not sure what to post and when?

Let’s face it… the type of marketing that worked years ago does not work today. Long gone are the days when putting a logo above your store and having someone hand out flyers was enough to generate interest.

In today’s world your business requires a social media presence. To most businesses the thought of it is not only intimidating, it can seem like a herculean task.

Who will take care of it? Which platforms? What do we say?

Incorporating social media into your marketing strategy is important. Start with defining your target markets, which makes it much easier to see where your customers live (which social media platforms they frequent). Done … cross that road block off your list.

If you are unsure of who your target markets are, download out PROSPECT PROFILE ACTION BOOK and get started.

If someone in your business can write well, they may take on the social media task. If not, there are a number of companies or virtual assistants out there who can help.

Now the most important thing… what do we say? Here the “jab…jab…jab…punch” rule is very important. What does that mean? Don’t make all your posts about selling. Share valuable content. Educate your customers. Answer their questions before they ask.  Sharing valuable content will grow your following and convert your potential clients into your brand’s advocates.

Remember…. the ultimate goal of social media is to drive traffic to your website. Think of it this way, your website is the only real estate you own. Social media platforms are like rental properties.

With that in mind… your social media strategy (what you post and when) is the key to your success.

The best way to accomplish that is by using a Social Media Calendar. It allows you to build your content in advance so that you’re not posting haphazardly just for the sake of posting.

Having a well set up content calendar, available to everyone on your social media team, makes it easy to see who is responsible for which part and keeps them accountable for it.

Having your content set up in advance saves time, allowing you to pre-post content so that you don’t need to worry about it every day. Its best to develop your content calendar at least 3 months at a time.

So what should be in your content calendar?

For the basic content calendar the following information is a must:

Publish Date | Due Date | Author | Editor | Publish by | Topic Title | Content Details | Keywords | Images | Targets | CTA (Call To Action)

You will realize that as soon as you start filling in these columns, your content (in detail) will show itself.

Not convinced yet?

Download our content calendar template and give it a try.
