BRANDING… HOW DOES IT REALLY WORK? part 1
March 30, 2020
We are all in the same boat right now…and by that I don’t just mean everyone as an individuals doing what can to stay safe, but also all of us who are now working from home and hope that our business will survive this very trying time.
This is the time to evaluate your business positioning, your target markets and answer some very hard questions. Is your messaging speaking to your target markets? Are you reaching them and leaving a memorable impression? We will go out on a limb here and say that chances are you are either not, or you could implement some improvements.
How you present your business to your target markets, what messages you send them, and most importantly… WHAT FEELING ARE YOU GONNA LEAVE THEM WITH… all of it goes to how you develop your brand identity.
And here it is… one of the most overused words in business and how it relates to marketing…BRANDING.
In the next part of this four part blog we will shed some light on this misunderstood word, how to be effective with branding and why.
Let me start with this…. In the last while we have had a number of clients reach out to us asking …. we think we need to rebrand… can you design a new logo for us?
The answer is yes and no. From a position of a technician (graphic designer) absolutely we can! From a perspective of a branding specialist and a marketer, the answer is more complex. We will explain this in detail in the next two parts of this blog. But simply said, logo is only one element of your brand identity and any branding specialist will NOT give your business a new logo without assessing your business and implementing a strategy that will carry your messaging with purpose, and elevate your brand.
Before we get into the nitty gritty of it all, let’s clarify a couple of things.
Many people interchange the word Brand and Branding as one and the same.
So what is a Brand and what is Branding… and is there is a difference?
BRAND
We will get into how does your product develop from product to commodity to brand in the next blog.
But in a few words, you have a business…you have a BRAND. Brand is a collection of associations that exist in the mind of consumers.
BRANDING is the process involved in creating a strong subconscious “ gut feeling” in the minds of your costumers with will make your brand their choice.
If you want to understand the ins and outs of branding, the importance of it, or if we just intrigued you a little…. look out for the next part of this blog tomorrow.
