𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗕𝗘𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗦𝗘𝗘𝗡?… 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗕𝗘𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗗?

October 20, 2022

Social Media… such a big part of marketing these days. Although social media is part of the overarching marketing plan…. It needs its own strategy.  And it’s not just about what platform you are on. It’s not just about how often you post and what content you will put out there. There are many factors that go into an effective social media marketing strategy.

But today I want to ask you one question…

𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗗𝗢 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗢𝗡 𝗦𝗢𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗠𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗔?

So often we see such a big disconnect between how a brand is being developed and how it presents itself on social.

It’s sort of like going to a business meeting with a C level team and showing up in your workout gear. Unless you’re meeting with them at a gym or on the way to run a marathon, you are probably not gonna represent yourself as you would like to be seen.

So here are a few things to consider when you post on social media representing your business…

1️⃣ 𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗦

You most likely spend time and money to develop a visual identity (or hopefully you had an expert do it). You have your logo… and it’s solid. Your colours translate the feel and nature of your business. Your fonts and graphics are all in sync with the voice, the feel, the purpose of your business.

You use all these elements on your website… I hope.

But are you also representing your business equally well on social media platforms?

Using visual content in your social posts will make a noticeable impact on your engagement metrics.

But creating great visual content is not enough – if you want to make sure your brand is not just recognized, but also remembered, make sure that your visuals are branded with your logo. Adding your logo strengthens your social presence, and can help boost brand awareness, especially when others share your content across the web.

The other benefit is that branded visuals will inspire people to go to your site.

2️⃣ 𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦… 𝗦𝗘𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗠 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗙𝗘𝗘𝗟 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗠!

We connect with visuals on an emotional level (the right side of our brain)… and the first thing our brain will connect to and be stimulated by is colour. Think Coca Cola… what colour pops in your head… RED. McDonalds will forever make you think of the GOLDEN arches. Colours will evoke specific emotions and that’s why they are so important when creating visual  brand identity.. It is one aspect of representing the character of your brand…  but that’s another post. 😉

Simply put… when your brand identity was developed, it included a specific colour palette. Use it in your posts…not just in your logo… in headers, in text over images, in your CTAs (Call to Action).

Be consistent and next thing you know people will recognize your brand at a glance and  your posts will ALWAYS evoke consistent emotion in your readers.

3️⃣𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗬 𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗥 𝗬𝗢𝗨.. 𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗞 𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗟𝗢𝗨𝗗 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗖𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗥!

How do people hear you?

Are you funny? Are you sarcastic, serious, street, academic?

What is your authentic self?

“Yeah… but that’s my personal voice?”

I have news for you… your personal voice reflects in your business … like it or not.

𝗢𝗸… 𝘀𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲…

What does that mean?

✅ Your voice has to come through in your messaging.

✅ Your voice has to reflect in the wording and images you create for your social media profiles

✅ Your voice drives the copy you write for your posts and ads.

What is the tone of your voice? Is it conversational, formal… maybe a combination of both?

Whatever the combination… Be consistent…The writing style, the tone of voice,  and words you use must be used consistently everywhere.

But the most important thing…𝗕𝗘 𝗔𝗨𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗖!
